Amygdala

Just above our hind brain reside two almond shaped structure on both sides called amygdala which is the seat of emotional reactions,these reactions are more primitive types and based on sort of our survival instinct.

Amygdala receives impulses from prefrontal neuro-cortex and hypothalamus however the impulses from prefrontal neuro-cortex are delayed and those from hypothalamus are more direct and shorter.

Sometimes this shorter and direct recieving of impulses hijacks our thinking brain and amygdala starts to alter neurochemistry of brain on it's own, not giving time to the rationale brain.

Remember the reactions of human beings across the world after announcement of lockdown,where people started quarrelling on hoarding of essentials,that was purely a survival instinct sort of primitive reactions of proud social animals.

This emotional hijacking of rational brain can also be manipulative, the sensational news on media channels mongering fear psychosis also do so. This pathway has also been manipulated by the leaders with their hypnotic speeches appealing to masses

You call it blind support I call it amygdalar reactions. Our awareness to this may help us from falling in trap.
